Applying for disability benefits is an important decision that can provide financial support when you’re unable to work due to a lasting medical condition. There are two types:

• Supplemental Security Income (SSI): SSI is a program for adults or children who are blind, disabled, or elderly and have low income and not much money or things.
• Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI): SSDI is a program for adults who are blind or disabled.
