Your First Four Steps:
I will vigorously represent you, but your first four steps are crucial:
Here is the start button for the quick four steps:
Step 1: Understand My Expectations and what to expect from myMOpd by reading this letter and Connect with me Now:
- Bookmark my web-app (mypdmo.com).
- Text me at 573-705-9455 with your full name so I can add you to my contacts. Please also text me a picture of yourself.
- Email me at grant.doty@mspd.mo.gov with “New Client” in the subject line and your name in the email.
- Add me to your contacts to recognize my calls, texts, and emails.
Step 2: Help identify the Evidence we need for your Vigorous Defense
My primary goal is to ensure you receive a vigorous and high-quality defense. However, a successful defense isn’t just in the courtroom—it starts the moment we begin collecting the facts supported by “evidence.” Because some evidence can “disappear,” I need your input to know exactly what to evidence exists — because if it is lost, it will almost certainly be to our disadvantage not law enforcement’s.

Step 3: Review the “Self-Help” (or “Team Help”) Info Page.
While I am focused on your legal problem for the next several months, you and others on your “Team” should focus on the other, non-legal issues in your life. Your Team is anyone who supports you—parents, your spouse or partner, your church, a healthcare provider, a probation officer, siblings, and friends.
So, it is important that you set up a meeting with me (see Step 4) we not only discuss the timeline of your case, but it also important that you quickly assess what you and your Team can do during this time. This page provides a wealth of information and resources for the various issues my clients regularly face.

Step 4: Schedule a Meeting with me after Steps 1-3 to discuss Your case and your Self/Team-Help Plan. Don’t wait to talk to me, whether you plan to fight your charges or seek a plea. In-person meetings are preferred, but Zoom or phone calls are options if needed.
The most productive meeting will be after we receive the State’s evidence against you (this is called “discovery”). However, if anything is urgent, schedule an appointment immediately.
The easiest way to schedule is via myPD’s shared Google calendar. To do so, please click this button >>> Online Appointment Scheduler
If you can’t use Google, text (573-705-9455) or email (grant.doty@mspd.mo.gov) your requested dates/times and preferred meeting method.
Why Meeting Promptly Matters:
Our initial meeting (Step 4) is critical and will impact your case’s outcome.
- Your Objectives: I need to understand what you want – a trial, a plea deal, help for addiction, etc. We’ll discuss your options to find the best path for you.
- Best Defense: Only you can provide details about your case or potential rights violations by officers.
- Time is a Factor: We can use time strategically to meet your needs, whether you need a quick resolution or a delay for treatment.
- Disappearing Evidence: Crucial evidence (like 911 audio or Ring doorbell videos) can be deleted or lost. I move quickly to preserve evidence, but I need your input to know what to look for. A prompt meeting ensures our investigator can act swiftly. See post here regarding this issue.
Bottom line: A prompt meeting is crucial for a good outcome in your case. Please schedule one now.
Again, I am honored to be your attorney and look forward to working with you. While I will vigorously represent you, the first steps are yours.
Sincerely,

Grant R. Doty, myMOpd
