Here is an email I’ve sent to Prosecutors in rural jurisdiction in which I’ve worked regarding the inclusion of Driver Improvement Program (DIP) as a standard in all traffic offense recs/guilty plea:
As discussed, see [this “post” I’ve made for my web/app]> Driver Improvement Program (DIP) – myMOpd – https://mymopd.com/dip/
The key part of this [post] for PAs, if you agree with my view that rural folks are disparately impacted by traffic issues (i.e., points, DWR(misd), DWR (fel), prison, etc.), [is the following language I think should be included on PA recs/guilty pleas for pro se Defendants] facing any charges in three [categories*] of cases OK’d for DIP [under Missouri law]:
“[T]he judge orders that DIP is authorized pursuant to RSMo 302.302, with the Defendant, upon completion of the course, to submit MO Form 4444 to the Court Clerk for a signature and ensure it is mailed to the Department of Revenue (DOR) within 15 days of course completion.”
*Three categories of traffic violations (see also main DIP post – here):
- General Moving Violations. 302.302.1 (1)
- Speeding. 302.302.1 (2)
- Careless and imprudent driving. 302.302.1 (4).
